The Freewheel has been created as a wheelchair add-on to both a rigid frame and a folding wheelchairs. The FreeWheel increases your Freedom, Independence, and increased Mobility. With the FreeWheel your wheelchair castors are lifted off the ground with a larger single front wheel, turning your chair into a 3-wheeler, allowing you to negotiate many obstacles: curbs, dirt trails, grass, gravel, snow, and sand. The Freewheel greatly increase the number of places you can go.
Made from strong aircraft quality aluminium with a simple clamp design Freewheel fits quickly and easily. The large 12″ front wheel gives smooth ride over rough surfaces and when not in use attach the FreeWheel to the back of your chair with the included ´perch´ attachment (custom perch clamps available for oval/oversized tubes)
The mechanism keeps the front wheel straight to improve stability and handling. By applying slight pressure, it will release. As a result, this allows you to quickly and easily turn in any direction. The FreeWheel can be fitted and removed in seconds, making it easy to use.
You can fit the FreeWheel to a rigid chair and with a special adapter to a folding chair too. Using the horizontal side tubing, the adaptor securely clamps on to a folding wheelchair.*
Will it fit my chair?

Minimum footplate depth 4″ (102mm) – Maximum footplate depth 6 3/8″ (162mm)
Please check with your wheelchair manufacturer prior to purchasing to make sure your footrest is strong enough
Maximum user weight – 280lbs (127 kg)
Footplates with height over 4 7/8″ (123mm) need a custom frame – contact us for details
Footplates with angles of more than 12 degrees need a custom frame – contact us for details
Clamp requires some assembly/adjustment
For footrests higher than 120mm from the ground a custom FreeWheel can be made, contact us for details
*Folding chairs – For folding chairs you need to check the diameter of your tubing. Please see the fitting leaflets in the documents tab.
Tubing varies from chair to chair so shims are available to suit the tube width of your chair. Tube Shims are not required on 1-18”tubing. If you have 7/8” tubing contact us about custom tube shims.
